Borough Park

Borough Park, Brooklyn is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish communities in the world. The neighborhood is home to many Chasidic groups such as the Bobov, Belz, Ger, Satmar, Stolin, Vizhnitz, Munkacz, Spinka, Klausenburg, and Puppa communities, as well as non-Chasidic Orthodox Jews.

Unique institutions exist here developed especially for this thriving community, like the country's busiest synagogue and a growing museum of biblical antiquities. You can see both on a walking tour through the neighborhood, along with great food and "The Avenue of Values."

  • Walk through residential and commercial streets. Learn about this unique community: their customs, organizations, and political activities. You'll be just a short subway ride from Manhattan, but feel a world away.
  • Experience the world's only museum dedicated to Biblical archeology.
  • See matzos made by hand and cooked at almost 2000 degrees Fahrenheit (mid-December to Passover).
  • Visit the synagogue that forms over 150 minyans a day, and is open from 4 AM in the morning to 2:15 AM at night.
  • Shop on 13th Avenue, the "Avenue of Values," where you can find Jewish music stores, kosher candy stores, the well-known Kosher Delight restaurant, and everything else Jewish under the sun.
